Major: Biology She was born in Argentina. She studied at Berwind High School and started her studies at UMET in 1996. She graduated from the Bachelor’s Degree in Biology with an outstanding curriculum that includes research experiences at the Argonne National Laboratory in Chicago and the Best Program in 1998. Major: Environmental Science He was born in Canóvanas. Gaddiel came from another institution and started studying at UMET in 1998. When he decided to complete the necessary preparation to become a professional in Environmental Sciences, he had already made his commitment: to work in decreasing the environmental problems of our Island and to educate the new generations on the importance of protecting the environment. To develop his leadership qualities, he participated in the Virgin Islands Caribbean Global Leadership Institute in the summer of the year 2000. In 1999 he participated in the summer internship at the Smithsonian Institution, which was geared toward environmental education at the elementary level. |
His scientific preparation
was completed with his research work in the area of soils, which started in the
summer of 1998 at the Teakettle Experimental Forest in California and still continues,
for he is collaborating with Dr. Heather Erickson from Universidad Metropolitana.
Gaddiel has presented his research in Puerto Rico as well as in the United States.
At present, he is studying his Master’s Degree in Environmental science
at UMET. He has always distinguished himself as a student for his reflexive character
and his spirit of service. We know that his contribution to the protection and
conservation of the natural resources and the environment of our island will be

Major: Environmental Science She is from Río Piedras. She entered UMET from another university institution with the conviction that she wanted to achieve her goals. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science. At present, she is studying in the Planning School at the University of Puerto Rico. While at UMET, she was very active in scientific research and participated in summer internships in 1998 and 1999 at the Teakettle Experimental Forest, California. |
Her research in the Environmental
Science area was directed toward the establishment of the speed of the mineralization
of nitrogen in soil. Her work, Comparative study of two techniques for the measurement
of humidity in soil was presented in the Tenth Undergraduate Research Symposium
at UMET. She has distinguished herself as an excellent study partner, for she
is disciplined, focused, cooperative, curious, and sincere. We hope that you accomplish
